Light Music

Project Description
For this assignment in DVA110: Lighting and Environmental Design, I created a music video-style lighting design based on a chosen piece of music. The project involved developing a complete light plot, cue sheet, and visual references that reflected the song’s mood and progression. I also assembled an audio/visual presentation demonstrating how the lighting choices supported the musical shifts and overall emotional tone.
Fulfilling Objective 2
This project required me to make intentional lighting design decisions based on the technical capabilities of stage equipment and the emotional needs of the music. By selecting specific fixtures, gels, gobos, intensities, and cue timings—and organizing them into a clear light plot and cue sheet—I demonstrated an understanding of how lighting tools and pre-production planning shape the final visual experience. Matching each lighting choice to the song’s tone and progression shows my ability to align technical specifications with the intended artistic result.
Fulfilling Objective 3
By designing a lighting plot that aligned with the emotional beats of the music, I created visuals that demonstrated thoughtful composition and professional lighting practice. Each cue was crafted to enhance mood, depth, and stage visibility—reflecting principles used in concert production, film, and live event environments. The integration of gels, gobos, intensities, and scene-based lighting looks shows my ability to craft visually cohesive, high-quality lighting that supports the overall composition of a performance.
